We headed off to Magaliesburg to the Black Horse Brewery for a relaxed Sunday afternoon tasting. It’s worth checking the map on their website before you head out there because we got a little bit confused about how to get there (GPS and all!). The beer is great, the food is delicious, and the venue is pretty – highly recommended.
It’s only been around since 2012, but have managed to turn their stud farm into a great micro-brewery with a good craft beer tasting selection. For those who don’t love beer, they also offer a nice ginger beer and a pretty pink drink that supports research into breast cancer. For those who do love beer (me, me!), they offer a golden lager, red ale and honey porter. You’re sure to find at least one favourite!
The menu is nice and varied without being over complicated. They have a biker’s breakfast on Sundays, too, if you’re into that sort of thing. Bookings are highly recommended as they get busy!
(Oh, now that I have godchildren that I’ve had to entertain on various occasions, I should probably add that Black Horse Brewery has catered for the young ones – with a trampoline and pool to keep them busy. There are shaded lounge areas where parents can keep a watchful eye on their little ones while sipping saintly on some ginger beer.)
